Alexander Volkov won via unanimous decision against Waldo Cortes-Acosta with scores of 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28. The crowd in New Jersey booed the decision, apparently favoring Acosta's aggressive gestures calling Volkov to the center to exchange. The analyst believed Volkov won the first two rounds. Volkov was expected to win more convincingly, similar to his performance against Sergey Pavlovich two years ago, whom the analyst ranks higher than Acosta. During his octagon interview, Volkov entered with a Russian flag and told the booing crowd it was an honor to fight on May 9th. He called for a title fight, stating he would face Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane, or Alex Pereira without preference.
