The 23-year-old Dagestani fighter, who trains at Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov's school, secured the finish after taking his opponent down from a standing position. All seven of Amirzhanov's victories have come by stoppage, with six by submission including two guillotines, a Peruvian necktie, a ninja choke, and a rear-naked choke. He competes in the bantamweight division and comes from a striking background, being the son of Thai boxing and kickboxing coach Anvarbek Amirzhanov.
