Chimaev's brother reveals extreme weight cut details, seeks October rematch

Said Chimaev, Khamzat's older brother, gave an interview explaining that severe weight cutting caused Khamzat's poor performance against Strickland at UFC 328. When the bout was announced in March, Khamzat weighed 105 kg, having expected to fight Jiri Prochazka at light heavyweight. Two weeks before UFC 328, he still weighed 97 kg. According to Said, Khamzat's body failed when he had 1.2 kg left to cut, requiring a one-hour break before finally making weight. After weigh-ins, Chimaev only regained 5-6 kg before the fight. Chimaev's team has requested a rematch with Strickland at middleweight for October in Abu Dhabi.
