Chimaev gained only 5-6 kg after weigh-in, team requests October rematch

In an interview with Vadim Tikhomirov, Khamzat Chimaev's older brother Said explained that the fighter performed poorly against Strickland due to a difficult weight cut. Chimaev weighed 105 kg when the fight was announced in March, believing he would face Prochazka at light heavyweight, and still weighed 97 kg two weeks before UFC 328. Chimaev's body failed when 1.2 kg remained to be cut, requiring a one-hour interruption before he made weight. After the weigh-in, Chimaev only regained 5-6 kg before entering the octagon. Chimaev's team has requested a rematch with Strickland at middleweight in October in Abu Dhabi.
