Hamzat Chimaev's brother disclosed that Chimaev faced serious weight cut problems before UFC 328, with his body shutting down when 1.2 kg remained. A doctor was called, but the team decided to continue cutting weight despite concerns the fight should have been cancelled. Chimaev had been preparing to fight Jiri Prochazka at light heavyweight before accepting the Strickland fight on short notice, requiring him to cut from 105 kg to 84 kg. The team has now requested a rematch with Strickland for October in Abu Dhabi.
