Arthur Chimaev provided extensive details about Hamzat's weight cut struggles in an interview with Vadim Tikhomirov. He revealed that when 1.2 kg remained, Hamzat's body shut down and they had to pause for an hour due to health concerns, with Hamzat experiencing oxygen deprivation. Two weeks before the fight, Chimaev weighed 97 kg, but by mid-March he was at 105 kg after preparing for a Jiri Prochazka fight at 93 kg. After the weigh-in, Chimaev only regained 5-6 kilograms before the fight, which explains his poor second-round performance. The team has requested a rematch with Strickland for October in Abu Dhabi.
