Chimaev's Brother Details Extreme Weight Cut and Health Crisis Before UFC 328

Arthur, Khamzat Chimaev's brother, provided detailed information about the fighter's troubled weight cut before UFC 328. When 1.2 kg remained to be cut, Chimaev's body shut down and they were forced to pause for an hour. Chimaev had been preparing to fight Jiri Prochazka at light heavyweight when the UFC contacted him directly to fight Sean Strickland at middleweight instead. Chimaev nearly lost consciousness due to oxygen deprivation during the cut from 105 kg to 84 kg. After weigh-ins, he only regained 5-6 kilograms before the fight, and two weeks prior to the bout he weighed 97 kg. The team has requested a rematch with Strickland in October in Abu Dhabi.
