Kyrgyzstan is experiencing significant progress in MMA, moving beyond just Valentina Shevchenko and Rafael Fiziev as recognizable names. Six fighters are highlighted as top talents: Razhabali Shaidullaev (25, 19-0, Rizin featherweight champion), Zhaksylyk Myrzabekov (27, 15-2, interim ACA welterweight champion), Edil Essengulov (27, 14-4, recently defeated Ibrahim Magomedov via arm triangle at ACA Tashkent), Akbar Abdullaev (28, 13-0, five consecutive finishes in One Championship), Kubanychbek Abdisalam (31, 23-3, former Brave lightweight champion), and Mykhtybek Orolbai (28, 10-2, UFC welterweight contender). These fighters range from 25 to 31 years old and are achieving success across major promotions including Rizin, ACA, One Championship, Brave, and UFC. The post notes this represents a clear trend of Kyrgyz fighters reaching elite levels in the sport.

Kyrgyzstan's mixed martial arts scene is producing elite-level talent well beyond its two most famous exports, with six fighters now making serious noise across the sport's biggest global stages.

Valentina Shevchenko
Valentina Shevchenko

Valentina Shevchenko remains the standard-bearer for Kyrgyz fighters on the world stage. The 38-year-old women's flyweight champion carries a 26-4-1 record and trains out of Tiger Muay Thai, landing 3.14 significant strikes per minute at 52 percent accuracy while also averaging 2.62 takedowns per 15 minutes — a combination that has made her one of the most complete fighters in MMA history. Rafael Fiziev, listed here representing Kazakhstan but long associated with the Kyrgyz scene through Tiger Muay Thai, is ranked seventh at lightweight with a 14-5 record and one of the highest striking output rates in his division at 4.71 significant strikes per minute.

Now a new generation is arriving behind them. Razhabali Shaidullaev, just 25 years old and undefeated at 19-0, holds the Rizin featherweight championship. Zhaksylyk Myrzabekov, 27, carries a 15-2 mark and the interim ACA welterweight title. Edil Essengulov, also 27 and 14-4, most recently submitted Ibrahim Magomedov via arm triangle at ACA Tashkent. Akbar Abdullaev is 28 and a perfect 13-0 inside One Championship, where he has recorded five consecutive finishes. Kubanychbek Abdisalam, 31, has gone 23-3 and held the Brave lightweight title. Rounding out the group is Mykhtybek Orolbai, 28 and 10-2, who is competing as a welterweight contender inside the UFC.

Why it matters

  • Kyrgyz fighters now hold or have held titles in Rizin, ACA, One Championship, and Brave simultaneously
  • The UFC already has representation in Orolbai, suggesting the pipeline reaches the sport's highest level
  • Ages ranging from 25 to 31 mean most of these fighters are approaching or entering their peak years
  • The spread across weight classes and promotions signals depth rather than a single regional outlier
