Arthur Chimaev, brother of Khamzat Chimaev, provided detailed information about the troubled weight cut before the Strickland fight. When 1.2 kg remained, Khamzat's body refused to cooperate and they had to stop for an hour due to health concerns. Khamzat questioned whether he could even fight in such condition. Arthur explained they were originally contracted to fight Jiri Prochazka at 93 kg, but when the UFC asked Khamzat to take the Strickland fight instead, he agreed to cut from 105 kg to 84 kg. During the cut, Khamzat nearly lost consciousness due to oxygen deprivation. By fight time, he had only regained 5-6 kg instead of his usual recovery. Two weeks before the fight he weighed 97 kg, and around March 13 he was 105 kg. The team has now requested a rematch with Strickland for October in Abu Dhabi.
