Fernand Lopez has strongly refuted the common narrative that Francis Ngannou became a better fighter after leaving his gym. Lopez pointed out that when Ngannou lost to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, he was already training in the United States. Conversely, when Ngannou defeated Curtis Blaydes and Cain Velasquez, he had returned to train with Lopez in Paris. Lopez emphasized that he was the one who discovered Ngannou when his record was only 1-1 after losing to Zoumanou Sissé, and that all of Ngannou's preparation for the Blaydes fight was done entirely in Paris under his guidance. He expressed frustration that people overlook these facts and focus only on the final results while ignoring the circumstances of each training camp.
