Demid Volkov became the youngest Russian national combat sambo champion in the men's 88kg division at age 18. The St. Petersburg prospect trains with Alexander Korshunov and spars with Denis Goltsov, Alexey Mohniatkin, and Khadis Ibragimov. Volkov also won the junior MMA national championship in the 93kg division, defeating Platon Lebedev via ground control and throws.
