Quick read

Fedor Emelianenko purchased a smartwatch in March and has accumulated 165 points through running by May 23. A half marathon earns only 4 points in his tracking system. Teammate Vadim Nemkov has 72 points, while Fedor had 90 by late April when Nemkov had 60.

Fedor Emelianenko, the legendary Russian heavyweight known as The Last Emperor, has turned a new smartwatch into a serious fitness pursuit, racking up 165 points through a personal running-tracking system as of May 23 — well ahead of his teammate Vadim Nemkov in their unofficial competition.

Emelianenko, 49, purchased the device in March and has been logging distances at a pace that puts him well clear of the field. Under his tracking system, a half marathon earns just four points, which underscores the sheer volume of running he has accumulated to reach 165 points in under three months. By late April he had already registered 90 points, meaning he added another 75 in the following weeks alone.

The 36-5-0 heavyweight veteran stands six feet tall with a 74-inch reach and has long been regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. Now retired from competition, Emelianenko trains under the FedorTeam banner in Russia, and his conditioning work appears to have taken on a life of its own.

Nemkov, his FedorTeam training partner, is no slouch himself. The 32-year-old light heavyweight holds a 19-2-0 professional record and stands six feet tall with a 76-inch reach. He sits at 72 points in the same running tracker, a number that would be impressive in isolation — but Emelianenko's lead of more than 90 points tells a story of its own.

Why it matters

  • Emelianenko, at 49, is outpacing a professional fighter 17 years his junior in a sustained cardio competition
  • The gap has actually widened since late April, when Fedor led 90 to 60, suggesting the older man is maintaining or increasing his output
  • The tracking system's point values mean Emelianenko has effectively completed the equivalent of many half marathons since March
