Melquizael Costa has announced he is moving up to lightweight, citing the physical toll of cutting 22 kilograms for each featherweight bout. The Brazilian had competed at 70 kg before the UFC and made his promotional debut at lightweight against Thiago Moises before dropping to featherweight, where he went on a six-fight winning streak. He was one step outside the featherweight top ten at the time of the move.
