Quick read
An analysis of all UFC title bouts where one fighter held a height advantage of 10 centimeters or more shows shorter fighters have won 31 to 29 overall, with a more pronounced edge of 20 to 9 in lighter weight classes. Among strikers in lighter divisions the margin is 12 to 7 in favor of the shorter fighter. Alexander Volkanovski went 6-0 in title fights against opponents taller by 12 or more centimeters, while Islam Makhachev and Israel Adesanya account for most of the advantage seen by taller fighters in middleweight and light heavyweight. Ilia Topuria is currently 2-0 in title fights against taller opponents and could improve that record to 3-0 against Justin Gaethje.
