Justin Gaethje's lightweight title victory makes trainer Trevor Wittman a three-time UFC undisputed championship coach, joining Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas as his title-winning pupils. Gaethje is now a full-fledged UFC champion under Wittman's guidance.
Justin Gaethje's lightweight title victory at UFC White House on June 14 has elevated trainer Trevor Wittman into rare company, making him the coach behind three separate undisputed UFC championships across different weight classes.

Gaethje, now 28-5 and the reigning lightweight champion at 37 years old, claimed the belt under Wittman's guidance out of Genesis Training Center. Known as "The Highlight," the American standout is one of the sport's most aggressive strikers, landing 6.48 significant strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 58 percent — numbers that rank among the elite at 155 pounds.

Wittman's previous championship pupils are equally decorated. Kamaru Usman, the 39-year-old welterweight who carries a 21-4 record and competes out of Kill Cliff FC, won undisputed gold under Wittman before the trainer expanded his roster. Usman built his title reign on smothering pressure and elite wrestling, averaging 2.82 takedowns per 15 minutes across his career. Rose Namajunas, the 34-year-old American known as "Thug" and currently ranked sixth in the women's flyweight division with a 15-8 record, also claimed undisputed gold under Wittman's corner work. She contributes 3.5 significant strikes per minute and adds a consistent takedown threat at 1.47 per 15 minutes.

Why it matters

- Gaethje's championship reign gives the 155-pound division a hard-hitting, pressure-based champion whose striking volume will shape future title contender matchups
- Usman and Namajunas as prior graduates signal that Wittman's coaching system consistently produces champions at the highest level of the sport
