John McCarthy Defends Ciryl Gane After Pereira Bout Controversy

Referee John McCarthy has come out in defense of Ciryl Gane following the incident in his fight against Alex Pereira. McCarthy believes Gane became overzealous in his attempt to finish Pereira and started acting recklessly in pursuit of a stoppage. He also noted that Pereira was turning his head in an attempt to survive, which caused some of Gane's punches to land on the back of the head.
