Ilia Topuria sustained fractures to both orbital bones and his nose during his UFC Freedom 250 defeat to Justin Gaethje. A close friend of Topuria, Pablo Motas, confirmed the injuries, noting that Topuria was still unable to open his eyes normally the morning after the fight. Topuria has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
