The UFC has introduced a new results-based ranking system in which wins and quality of opposition account for 95% of a fighter's standing, with no human voting or manual adjustments permitted. Key rules include fighters always rising above opponents they defeat, a small bonus for finishes over decisions, an inactivity penalty that kicks in after 18 months without a fight, and win values that decay after five years and expire after ten. Among the notable early differences from the old media-voted rankings, Pat Sabatini and Nathaniel Wood entered the featherweight top ten, Navajo Stirling sits 12th at light heavyweight, and De Ridder dropped from eighth to 15th at middleweight. The new system also ranks fighters outside the traditional top 15 and will not include a pound-for-pound list.
