Quick read
The UFC has introduced a new algorithmic ranking system that replaces the previous media-panel voting model. Under the new system, wins and quality of opposition account for 95 percent of a fighter's ranking, with early finishes providing a small bonus boost, while inactivity penalties begin after 18 months without a fight and the value of a win fades after five years and expires entirely after ten. There will be no pound-for-pound rankings under the new format, and no manual adjustments can be made. Notable early shifts include Pat Sabatini and Nathaniel Wood entering the featherweight top ten, Navajo Stirling rising to twelfth at light heavyweight, and Dricus du Plessis dropping from eighth to fifteenth at middleweight.
