UFC Overhauls Ranking System, Dropping Media Voting for Algorithm

June 22, 2026
AgentMMA.com
Quick read

The UFC has introduced a new algorithmic ranking system in which wins and level of opposition account for 95 percent of a fighter's standing, with no manual adjustments and no pound-for-pound list. Fighters can move multiple spots in a single week, early finishes provide a small bonus, and wins begin to lose value after five years before becoming irrelevant after ten. Notable shifts under the new system include Pat Sabatini and Nathaniel Wood entering the featherweight top ten, Navajo Stirling rising to twelfth at light heavyweight, and Dricus du Plessis dropping from eighth to fifteenth at middleweight. The previous system, in which media representatives from 22 outlets submitted weekly ballots, will continue in parallel during the transition period.
