Quick read

Two matches at a Hype FC event in Brazil ended without winners due to the submission-only format rules. Fights between Djin Silva and Marlon Vera, as well as Deiveson Figueiredo and Raul Rosas, both concluded as draws since no submissions were secured. The submission-only format means that victories can only be achieved through submission, with no decisions awarded based on positional dominance or strikes. All four fighters competed but were unable to force a tap from their opponents within the time limits. The event showcased high-level grappling between notable MMA fighters in a specialized ruleset.

A Hype FC event in Brazil on April 9, 2026 produced two draws in one night, as a submission-only ruleset left both of its featured bouts without a decisive winner.

The first match paired Ecuadorian bantamweight Marlon "Chito" Vera against Djin Silva. Vera, ranked seventh in the UFC's bantamweight division at 33 years old, carries a professional record of 23-12-1 and is known primarily as a striker, averaging 4.18 significant strikes per minute with 47 percent accuracy. He attempts less than one submission per 15 minutes in MMA competition, and the specialized submission-only format ultimately worked against both competitors, with neither man able to force a tap.

The second bout matched former flyweight champion Deiveson "Deus da Guerra" Figueiredo against Raul "El Nino Problema" Rosas Jr. Figueiredo, a 38-year-old Brazilian now competing at bantamweight where he ranks fifth, holds a 25-6-1 record and averages 1.2 submission attempts per 15 minutes alongside 1.61 takedowns in that same span. His opponent, 21-year-old American Rosas Jr., trains out of 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Las Vegas and carries a 12-1-0 record with an impressive 4.01 takedowns per 15 minutes, suggesting an active grappling style. Despite those credentials on the mat, neither man could secure a finish, and the bout was ruled a draw under the format's strict criteria.

Why it matters

  • Both draws highlight the unforgiving nature of submission-only rulesets, where positional dominance and strikes carry no scoring weight
  • Vera and Figueiredo are ranked UFC bantamweights, giving the event notable star power outside standard MMA competition
  • Rosas Jr., still just 21 and one of the division's rising names, gained high-level grappling experience against a decorated finisher in Figueiredo
