Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolence to Shavkat Rakhmonov over the death of his father, Baktybai Rakhmanuly Alpamysov, the Akorda press service said in a statement carried by Qazinform. "Baktybay Rakhmanuly was a respected man who lived a life of dignity. As a true patriot, he raised a strong and courageous son like you - a son who has enhanced our country's standing and become the pride of all our people," the telegram reads. The head of state expressed his deep condolences to the fighter and his family.

Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolence to mixed martial artist Shavkat Rakhmonov following the death of his father, Baktybai Rakhmanuly Alpamysov, the Akorda press service said in a statement carried by Qazinform on August 10, 2026.

"Baktybay Rakhmanuly was a respected man who lived a life of dignity. As a true patriot, he raised a strong and courageous son like you - a son who has enhanced our country's standing and become the pride of all our people," the telegram reads.

The head of state expressed his deep condolences to Rakhmonov and his family.

Rakhmonov's father died earlier in August; the family announced a Quran reading in his memory for Thursday, August 13. Rakhmonov, an unbeaten Kazakh welterweight, has been recovering from a knee injury and recently returned to sparring.

Tokayev has publicly recognised the fighter before, congratulating him in 2024 on his victory over Ireland's Ian Machado Garry.
