Dana White shared the story of how UFC organized an additional bout for the upcoming White House event card during UFC 327. White secured Derrick Lewis for the card after asking if he wanted to compete at the White House, with Lewis agreeing immediately. The promotion initially planned to finalize Lewis's opponent the following week, but when Joe Rogan asked live on air if there was room on the White House card, matchmaker Mick Maynard was sent to speak with Josh Hokit. Hokit agreed to the fight while being loaded into an ambulance after his bout at UFC 327. The rapid turnaround demonstrated the spontaneous nature of fight-making in the promotion.
