He explained that his negative remarks were directed specifically at Khamzat Chimaev, not Russians in general. Costa acknowledged that he misspoke when he said he hated Russians and clarified that he only meant certain individuals, particularly "the Chechen gourmet" in reference to Chimaev. He expressed admiration for Russian people and asked for forgiveness. Costa also noted that he has now defeated two Russian opponents and hopes to face Chimaev next.
