Carlos Ulberg's victory marks the 20th UFC title won by fighters from Australia and New Zealand, counting the Whittaker-Romero rematch which should have remained a title fight for Whittaker despite Romero missing weight. On a per capita basis, Australia and New Zealand lead all continents with one UFC title victory per 1.6 million population, ahead of North America (one per 2.3 million) and far ahead of South America, Russia/CIS, and Western Europe. The region's combat sports success extends to boxing with current and former world champions Jay Opetaia, Joseph Parker, George Kambosos, and Tim Tszyu.
