Journalist and manager Azamat Bostanov shared detailed memories from Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 title victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov recounted how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from the team after he interviewed Artem Lobov, but Khabib intervened saying "This is our guy, he's just doing his job." He described how 20-30 Dagestanis gathered at the hotel to protect Khabib from potential provocations from Conor McGregor's team. Despite being exhausted after winning the belt, Khabib took time to photograph with fans and speak with everyone who approached him. Bostanov also revealed that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during his warm-up at the same event but fought anyway without telling the athletic commission. Years later, Khabib remained humble and even called out to Bostanov from his car to offer him a ride.
