Gilbert Burns has confirmed he did not plan to retire before his most recent fight, but was prepared for that possibility. He stated that if he couldn't perform at his best again, he would be ready to walk away rather than just fighting for money. Burns revealed his post-fighting plans, which include becoming an MMA manager, as he believes he knows how to build a fighter's career effectively. He also plans to open a gym in South Florida with close friend Wagner Rocha, focusing on changing children's lives rather than just teaching martial arts. Burns expressed that helping young people build better futures will be his primary focus in retirement.
