Sean Strickland spent the day in Newport Beach, California, the city where Khamzat Chimaev is currently training, and repeatedly tagged his location on social media hoping to encounter Chimaev's team. Strickland said he was responding to comments Chimaev allegedly made about trying to kill him on the street. The former UFC middleweight champion was located just ten minutes from Chimaev's gym and believed fighters training with Chimaev would have seen his Instagram stories showing his whereabouts. Strickland stated he expected Chimaev to show up for a confrontation but the Chechen fighter never appeared. Strickland concluded by saying he's the last guy in America that Chimaev should be threatening.
