Sean Strickland was in Newport Beach, California, where Khamzat Chimaev currently trains. Strickland tagged his location throughout the day on social media, hoping to encounter Chimaev's team. Strickland stated he saw something online about Chimaev saying he would try to kill him on the street. He emphasized he was only ten minutes from Chimaev's gym all day and that fighters who train with Chimaev follow him and could see his location tags. Strickland said he expected Chimaev to show up but he never did. Strickland declared himself the last guy in America that Chimaev should mess with.
