Sean Strickland spent an entire day in Newport Beach, California, the location where Khamzat Chimaev is currently training, and repeatedly tagged his location on social media in hopes of confronting Chimaev or his team. Strickland addressed comments in which Chimaev allegedly said he would try to kill Strickland in a street fight, calling him out for not showing up despite being only ten minutes away. Strickland noted that fighters training with Chimaev follow him on social media and would have seen his location tags. He emphasized that Chimaev should have known where he was and challenged him to back up his words. Despite Strickland's efforts, no confrontation occurred.
