Baraniewski, 27, carries a perfect 8-0-0 record into these discussions and has made a striking impression in his two UFC appearances so far. The orthodox standout measures six feet tall with a 73-inch reach and has posted a remarkable 15.77 significant strikes landed per minute alongside a 70 percent striking accuracy rate — numbers that reflect a finishing-oriented style. He acknowledged the opportunity as both huge and daunting, and noted that his coaches, who play a central role in decision-making, are still deliberating alongside his manager. Complicating matters, Baraniewski is currently booked to face Billy Elekana on June 6.

Blachowicz, 43, is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and sits ranked fifth in the division. The Polish veteran holds a 29-11-2 record and brings considerable experience to any matchup, averaging 3.44 significant strikes per minute with a 78-inch reach and solid takedown output at 1.03 per 15 minutes.

Elekana, the man Baraniewski is already scheduled to face, is 10-2-0 and fights out of Uprising MMA. The 31-year-old southpaw stands six-foot-three with a 77-inch reach and connects at 56 percent striking accuracy, making him a capable opponent in his own right.

Why it matters

  • A replacement fight against Blachowicz would represent a significant step up in competition for Baraniewski in just his third UFC outing.
  • Blachowicz is ranked fifth at light heavyweight, meaning a strong performance could vault Baraniewski directly into divisional relevance.
  • Any decision to accept would likely affect the scheduled June 6 bout with Elekana.
  • Negotiations remain ongoing and no agreement has been officially confirmed.
