Islam Makhachev highlights construction chaos problem in Makhachkala

Islam Makhachev has once again drawn attention to the massive construction problem in Dagestan, particularly the chaotic development in Makhachkala. Seventeen days ago, during severe flooding in Dagestan, Makhachev called on regional leadership to address the construction issue, noting that "Makhachkala has turned into one chaotic construction site." Recently, he reposted content from geographer and schoolteacher Dmitry Koryukhin, who has lived in the Caucasus for six years and was named Dagestan's Teacher of the Year in 2025. Koryukhin's post included aerial photographs of Makhachkala showing the urban planning disaster, with low-quality residential complexes built tightly together, numerous unauthorized constructions, and 30-story buildings being erected despite stagnant or declining populations. Makhachev is being praised for using his platform to highlight this critical infrastructure and urban development issue affecting the region.
