Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 caused severe conditioning issues that affected his performance against Corey Anderson. During sparring sessions, Nemkov would perform adequately in the first round but completely run out of energy by the second, a problem that persisted in his first fight with Anderson where he won the opening round but had no strength to continue effectively. After extensive medical consultation, doctors identified the kidney issue and found an approved pharmaceutical treatment that resolved the problem before his November rematch. Nemkov also revealed he has completely eliminated sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen due to the strain they place on his kidneys, though he continues taking vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. He stated that removing supplements hasn't negatively impacted his performance, emphasizing instead the importance of proper nutrition and sleep.
