Vadim Nemkov disclosed that he suffered from kidney problems in 2022 that severely impacted his performance, particularly in his first fight against Corey Anderson. Nemkov explained that he would gas out after just one round in sparring sessions when he typically could fight five rounds. After extensive medical consultations, doctors discovered kidney issues related to severe weight cuts. He found an appropriate legal medication that resolved the problem and has been using it since. As part of his recovery, Nemkov completely eliminated sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen, as they placed additional stress on his kidneys. He now only takes vitamins such as omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and has not noticed any decline in performance without the supplements.
