Seventeen days ago, during flooding in Dagestan, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address construction issues. Recently he reposted content from geographer and schoolteacher Dmitry Koryukhin, who shared aerial photos of Makhachkala showing the urban development disaster. The post notes this is a problem across Russia, not just Dagestan, with massive apartment building construction continuing despite stagnant or falling populations in many cities.
