Islam Makhachev has once again drawn attention to the chaotic construction situation in Dagestan, highlighting the region's problems with poorly planned residential complexes and illegal self-builds. Seventeen days ago, during severe flooding in Dagestan, Makhachev called on regional leadership to address construction issues, noting that Makhachkala has become "one big construction mess." Recently, he reposted content from geographer and schoolteacher Dmitry Koryukhin, who has lived in Dagestan for six years. Koryukhin's post included aerial photographs of Makhachkala showing the urban planning disaster, with densely packed, low-quality apartment complexes. The post notes this is a nationwide Russian issue, with cities building massive housing developments despite stagnant or declining populations. Makhachev is praised for spotlighting this ongoing problem.
