Seventeen days ago, as flooding ravaged the region, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address construction issues, stating that "Makhachkala has turned into one chaotic construction site." Recently, he reposted content from geographer Dmitry Koryukhin, a school teacher in Dagestan who shared aerial photographs of Makhachkala showing what he described as an urban catastrophe. The post highlights the broader issue of low-quality residential complexes being built in close proximity to each other throughout Russia, with 30-story buildings containing 1,000 apartments standing half-empty despite declining or stagnant populations in many cities. Makhachev is being praised for using his platform to highlight these regional problems.
