Ilia Topuria claims he was told hours before a White House event announcement that he would fight Islam Makhachev, but was later informed Makhachev got injured and he would face Justin Gaethje instead. Topuria questioned why Makhachev doesn't want to fight him. Makhachev responded that he agreed to the White House fight but was told the next day that Topuria demanded a huge purse and was denied, leading to the fight falling through. Makhachev stated that even Topuria's manager confirmed this version of events and accused Topuria of lying. In the same post, Jorge Masvidal and Joe Pyfer both picked Sean Strickland to beat Khamzat Chimaev, with Masvidal calling Chimaev's style "sitting and smelling crotches." Dricus Du Plessis said Israel Adesanya was his most technical opponent, while Strickland and Thiago Santos were his toughest.
