Paddy Pimblett and Renato Moicano have been officially booked to meet at UFC 329 on July 11, with the promotion confirming the lightweight matchup.

The pairing puts two of the division's most compelling personalities on a collision course. Pimblett, the Liverpool-born fan favorite, has built a strong following inside the octagon while climbing the lightweight ranks. Moicano, the Brazilian veteran, brings a well-rounded game and the experience of competing at the highest level of the division.

Islam Makhachev

Beyond the confirmed main event addition, Ariel Helwani has reported that the UFC is planning to book Max Holloway against Conor McGregor for UFC 329 on the same card. Holloway, 34, currently sits fourth in the lightweight rankings and ninth in the pound-for-pound standings. He carries a 27-9 record and one of the most prolific striking outputs in the sport at 7.2 significant strikes landed per minute at 48 percent accuracy. A fight of that magnitude on the same card would give UFC 329 considerable star power.

Helwani also reported that pound-for-pound number one Islam Makhachev is being targeted for UFC 330. Makhachev, 34, holds a 28-1 record and is currently campaigning at welterweight following his lightweight reign. He averages 3.2 takedowns per 15 minutes and lands 58 percent of his significant strikes, making him one of the most complete fighters in the sport. His reported opponent for UFC 330 is Ian Garry.

Why it matters

  • Pimblett vs. Moicano is confirmed, giving UFC 329 a high-profile lightweight bout with genuine divisional implications
  • A potential Holloway vs. McGregor booking would make UFC 329 one of the most commercially significant cards in recent memory
  • Makhachev targeting UFC 330 keeps the welterweight title picture in focus heading into the summer

Separately, Guram Azizyan, trainer to heavyweight contender Sergei Pavlovich, publicly called for a rematch with number-one ranked Alexander Volkov, claiming that Volkov, 37, avoided exchanges in their previous meeting and that a tactical adjustment from Pavlovich would be enough to change the result.
