Quillan Salkilld reflects on loss to Pablo Torreallba, who retired after debut

Quillan Salkilld remains frustrated that the only man to defeat him in his MMA career, Pablo Torreallba, retired immediately after their fight. On February 13, 2021, Salkilld made his MMA debut against Torreallba, losing via rear-naked choke in the second round. That was Torreallba's only professional MMA bout; he never competed again and is now reportedly working as a coach. Salkilld noted he has a "curse" of losing his first fight in every combat discipline, including his professional and amateur careers. He stated he has tried to erase the memory of the loss entirely as his way of coping with defeat.
