Azamat Bostanov, now a fighter manager, shared his memories from attending UFC 223 in Brooklyn eight years ago when Khabib Nurmagomedov won the championship. He recalled the infamous confrontation between Khabib and Artem Lobov at the hotel, and how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from the team. However, Khabib intervened, calling Bostanov "our guy" and saying he was just doing his work. Bostanov described how 20-30 Dagestanis gathered at the hotel entrance after hearing Conor McGregor's team might arrive, ready to protect Khabib from provocations. He also revealed that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during his warm-up but fought anyway without telling the athletic commission. After the event, despite being exhausted, Khabib took time to meet with supporters, pose for photos with his belt, and speak with everyone who wanted to congratulate him, even strangers in his hotel room connecting him via video call to their relatives.
