Boxing legend Mike Tyson appeared on Robert Kennedy Jr.'s podcast and discussed the extremely poor quality of food he experienced during three years in prison. Tyson described the diet as consisting mainly of sugar, processed foods, donuts, chips, and oversalted soup, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons spending only about 60 cents per day per inmate on food. He argued that this unhealthy diet contributes to increased violence in prisons, citing research showing that improved nutrition can reduce violence by up to 50 percent. Tyson also reflected on how poor nutrition affected his family, including his sister who died from obesity-related complications, and explained how his mentor Cus D'Amato taught him proper nutrition and discipline.
