Mike Tyson appeared on Robert Kennedy's podcast and discussed the terrible quality of food he experienced during his three years in prison. Tyson explained that the Federal Prison System spends approximately 60 cents per day on inmate meals, resulting in heavily processed foods high in sugar with no healthy options. He described the cafeteria selling only donuts, chips, and sugary items, with the healthiest option being oversalted soup. Tyson believes this poor nutrition contributes to increased violence in prisons, making inmates more aggressive and prone to fighting over minor issues. Kennedy cited research showing that improving prison food quality can reduce violence by 50 percent and disciplinary measures in juvenile facilities by 70 percent. Tyson also discussed how his mentor Cus D'Amato taught him proper nutrition, contrasting with his upbringing where his family could only afford processed foods. He revealed his current diet focuses on eggs for breakfast and seafood as the best fat-burning food.
