Chimaev, who carries the nickname "Borz," was blunt in his assessment of Strickland's warnings. He stated that if Strickland genuinely wanted a street confrontation, it would have ended badly for the American long ago. Chimaev went further, mocking Strickland with a reference to fighting "white American chicken" and insisting that even when he was still competing at welterweight, Strickland found no success against him in sparring. He also pointed to the physical growth and hunger he has developed since those sessions.
