Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland have shared contradictory accounts of their training camp tensions. Chimaev claims Strickland avoided training with him, saying they had a shared group chat about training at Xtreme Couture. According to Chimaev, whenever he went to Xtreme, Strickland would go to the UFC Performance Institute, and vice versa. Chimaev suggested Strickland only started talking once Chimaev left, and claims he beat Strickland in the gym. Strickland's version differs significantly: he says he made a joke about Chechnya that Chimaev took seriously, leading to threats in the group chat. Strickland says he invited Chimaev to meet up, but Chimaev never showed or responded. Strickland accused Chimaev of building his career on a scary persona.
