Quick read

Islam Makhachev currently holds the longest active winning streak in the UFC lightweight division at 15 consecutive victories. The post traces the evolution of top winning streaks in the division over the past two years. One year ago, the top streaks were led by Makhachev at 14, followed by Paddy Pimblett at 6, and Chase Hooper, Nasrat Haqparast, and Fares Ziam all at 5. Two years ago in April 2024, Makhachev had 12 straight wins, with Renato Moicano and Pimblett at 5, and Drakkar Klose, Mike Davis, and Arman Tsarukyan at 4. Going back to April 2022, Charles Oliveira led with 10, Makhachev had 9, Beneil Dariush 7, and Claudio Puelles, Rafael Fiziev, and Arman Tsarukyan each had 5.

To appreciate the scale of that number, it helps to trace how the division's top streaks have shifted over the past four years. In April 2022, it was Charles Oliveira who led the lightweight standings in that category with 10 straight wins, while Makhachev sat just behind him at nine. Beneil Dariush was third at seven, and Claudio Puelles, Rafael Fiziev, and Arman Tsarukyan each held five-fight streaks at that point.

A year later, in April 2025, Makhachev stood at 14 wins, followed by Pimblett at six, and Chase Hooper, Nasrat Haqparast, and Fares Ziam all at five.

Oliveira, now 36, carries a career record of 37 wins and 11 losses and ranks third in the division, with a submission rate of 2.6 attempts per 15 minutes that remains among the most prolific in UFC history. Dariush, 37, holds a 23-8-1 record and sits eighth in the lightweight rankings, landing 3.78 significant strikes per minute across his career. Ziam, 29, is 18-4-0 and brings a 75-inch reach into his fights under the Kill Cliff FC banner.

Why it matters

  • Makhachev's streak has grown from nine wins in April 2022 to 15 today, a run that has spanned multiple title defenses and reshaped the division's competitive hierarchy
  • The churn among the next-longest active streaks shows how difficult sustained success at lightweight has become for everyone below the champion
  • Oliveira and Tsarukyan have both appeared across multiple snapshots, underscoring their consistency as long-term contenders even as Makhachev's lead has widened
