Khamzat Chimaev's first amateur fight took place in September 2017 in Sweden under the Fight Club Rush organization. Chimaev finished the bout with a submission in the second round. He won three amateur fights total before transitioning to professional MMA the following year. His opponent in that first amateur bout was Khaled Laalam, who now holds a 7-1 professional record and competes in UAE Warriors. The Fight Club Rush organization continues to hold events that are broadcast on UFC Fight Pass.
