Polish lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot stated that the more he travels the world, the more he appreciates Poland, calling it cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. Gamrot criticized the superficial nature of American interactions and noted technological advances in Poland that lag behind in the US, such as portable payment terminals that arrived in Poland a decade earlier. He recounted being invited to barbecues in America where he would have gone hungry if he hadn't brought his own food, contrasting this with Polish hospitality. While acknowledging advantages for sports and career in the US, Gamrot emphasized that life quality isn't necessarily better there, noting that even his children prefer being home in Poland despite Florida's beaches and palm trees.
