Lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot shared his perspective on living in Poland versus the United States during a podcast appearance. He stated that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than America. Gamrot criticized the superficial nature of American social interactions and noted that technology like portable payment terminals arrived in Poland years before the US. He also mentioned that Americans are not particularly hospitable, recounting being invited to barbecues where he would have gone hungry if he hadn't brought his own food. Despite acknowledging that the US offers better opportunities for sports careers, Gamrot emphasized that quality of life is not necessarily better there. He shared that his children preferred being at their grandmother's home in Poland over vacationing in Florida.
