Quick read

Tapology has introduced a new feature that calculates an opposition level rating for UFC fighters, expressed on a scale from 1 to 99. The metric is based on a specific formula and considers only a fighter's last six UFC bouts, excluding fights in other organizations. For the UFC 328 card, Sean Strickland leads with a rating of 74, followed by Khamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67. Joaquin Buckley and Sean Brady round out the top five with ratings of 55 and 54 respectively. On the lower end of the spectrum, Baisangur Susurkayev and Ozzie Diaz both have ratings of 4, the lowest on the card.

Tapology has unveiled a new opposition quality metric ahead of UFC 328, assigning each fighter on the card a rating between 1 and 99 that reflects the caliber of opponents they have faced across their last six UFC bouts. The tool deliberately excludes contests from other promotions, focusing solely on in-Octagon competition to produce a standardized benchmark for evaluating scheduling and competitive history.

Sean Strickland
Sean Strickland

Middleweight champion Sean Strickland tops the UFC 328 card with a rating of 74. The 35-year-old American trains out of Xtreme Couture and carries a professional record of 31-7-0. Standing six-foot-one with a 76-inch reach, Strickland is one of the division's most active strikers, landing 6.04 significant strikes per minute at 42 percent accuracy, a combination that reflects both his relentless output and his willingness to engage elite competition.

Alexander Volkov
Alexander Volkov

Russian heavyweight Alexander Volkov, known as Drago, ranks third on the card at 67. The 37-year-old holds a 40-11-0 record and is currently ranked first in the heavyweight division. At six-foot-seven with an 80-inch reach, Volkov converts his significant strikes at an impressive 57 percent accuracy while landing 4.78 per minute, numbers that underline the quality of opponents he has been tested against throughout his UFC tenure.

Sean Brady

Welterweight Sean Brady rounds out the top five with a rating of 54. The 33-year-old Philadelphia product holds a 19-2-0 record and sits seventh in his division. Brady relies heavily on his grappling, averaging 3.53 takedowns per 15 minutes and 0.9 submission attempts per 15 minutes, suggesting his path through ranked opposition has come primarily on the mat.

Why it matters

  • Strickland's rating of 74 is the highest on the card, reinforcing his title-level scheduling history.
  • Volkov's first-place divisional ranking aligns with his strong opposition score of 67.
  • Ratings of just 4 for Baisangur Susurkayev and Ozzie Diaz highlight significant gaps in scheduling depth across the UFC 328 roster.
  • The metric offers a new lens for comparing fighters beyond simple win-loss records.
